I've been seeing a few Halo customs here at Radicons, so I thought I'd add my spin on my favorite character in the series. I'm no big Halo fan, but I do like the good old BW Dinobot style "powerful elite enemy joins good guys" routine. I actually fired up Halo3 2 player co-op and used both controllers to get Arbiter out in the sunlight and use his actual in game model as reference while painting this. I got some screens and a pic of a cool statue too from the internets so you guys could compare too. Arbiter's colors were pretty dull so I made him a bit more metallic, shiny, and colorful to give him more life. Armor is my own blend of chrome silver and gold. Skin is dry-brushed mix of gray and plum crazy. Teal bands (my favorite color!) are games workshop hawk turquoise. I gave the armor washes in shades of gold/black mix for the old worn effect, and painted in lots of little details.
Very nice! Never did like that dull gold paint job McFarlane gave him or that pointless silver repaint
Ha! Shows how much I've paid attention to the Halo toy line... I didn't even know there was a gold version with more accurate colors. Kinda defeats some of the point of this repaint. :/
Hmm... I used the actual game from 2 save spots as reference to paint him. He held his guns and energy sword with his right hand and game accuracy was my goal.
Kewl! Arby is one of the last guys from HALO that I got to work on while at Mcfarlane...Always nice to see him gettin the love he deserves!
You worked for them? Wow, they used to be the best toy company around. I just tossed Arbiter up on the old Ebay.
Not true. Halo 2 cutscenes randomly had all the elites switching to left-handed. Arby is righthanded.
