Genetic of TFND has followed up his recent run of pictures showing the Combiner Wars Protectobots with a look at their combined form, Defensor! Defensor, much like his original Generation 1 incarnation, looks big and bulky, and he seems to have some sound articulation. Check out the pictures to see what you think – and to see what limb configuration you like the most.

He looks pretty freakin awesome. My favorite combiner so far.
I can't see Devy being $300, Toydojo had preorders up with a price point of $159 if I remember correctly. I think that is a fair price, about $25ish per figure.

I think devy is gonna be a monster 6 voyager class!!!!! Im thinking hes gonna be up to Metroplex's shoulders… and price point… I gotta think we gonna be looking around $300 in north America…. lets call a spade a spade… all 3 classes have gone up in price with the cw releases… while the limited releases have drastically gone up… yotg prime 189 cdn yotg sw 219 and the platinum insecticons 109…. we gonna be looking about same price for the reissue seekers…and I know the G1 dinobots are gonna be about 250 mark by my guess… we all wanted b etter stuff its costing us!!! but Devy is definitiely coming home with me… as in defensor and when bruticus is made 100%!!!! Im less likely to grab motormaster now…. that I know bruticus is coming.

I was never a big fan of Defensor back in the day, but this changes things. I'm hype for it. I'm just sad First Aid had to leave the Lost Light for this.

This
For me Defensor will have Blades and First Aid as arms and Rook and Streetwise as legs with Groove as a chest piece.
He just looks so cool.
That Guy
I think you're making a big assumption. I'm a collector and I don't particularly care about G1. I love that Defensor's scale works better with Rook as a leg and Groove legends sized.

cw is perfect to me. only thing i would change is optimus' combined mode. it needs more paint. also titan devy should've been deluxe class.

There are some, albeit very few instances where the actual toy looked better than the animation model, and one such situation, at least in my opinion, was Defensor. The animation was rushed (justifiably), and details that looked great on the toy were glossed over or omitted entirely in the cartoon. Defensor in the cartoon was just a featureless, blue, black and white humanoid blob.
I for one like seeing the vehicular features of the alt-modes worked into the robot mode. I would have loved it if they could have worked Sideswipe’s wheels onto his shoulders (not just because it would have made him broader, but also because it just looks cool), I’m extremely happy that Menasor and Superion have the car/jets sections facing forward on their legs and I’m hoping that if/when Bruticus comes out his right leg will have Swindle’s jeep/hummer/whatever section facing forward too. And of course, thank God Jetfire’s alt mode is closer to the G1 toy than that box with wings Skyfire transformed into. There were things that the animators definitely did NOT improve upon – and after Jetfire, Defensor might be the greatest example of that (I truly would have preferred a black-headed Hot Spot, but minor issue).
And things like making Groove a legends class and replacing his role as a limb with someone that transforms into a SWAT transport or whatever it’s called is a great idea in my book. Yeah, I get it, inconsistent is the very nicest thing that can be said about Transformers scale (outside of Alternators), but if there’s an opportunity to make things a little bit better looking when lining a team up with one another while still making everything work, then awesome. Yes, it’s still not perfect, but all the vehicles lined up with each other just looks better than it would with a deluxe Groove. It’s like with Motormaster not having a trailer – it’s not G1-accurate but he just looks better in relation to his team so I’m glad they did it.
So I for one am glad they aren’t 100% locked into a G1-toon recreation. The fact is that some things just didn’t make sense, there were better options they could have gone with, there was a lot of room for improvement, times and vehicles have changed, and as nostalgic as I am, Generations should not approach new molds with a religious devotion to what was in the cartoon. If they can improve upon or modernize it, then by all means they should. That said, not sure Blast Off should resemble a Space X Dragon – yeah, the Space Shuttles are no longer in use, but the Dragon just looks so horribly bland.

Full on G1 cartoon accuracy is, IMHO for MPs. These combiners are clearly Classics updates of the characters (not to mention why people are buying them) and not MPs so don't expect "looks just like the cartoon!"accuracy levels.
In fact, I prefer my Classics to be a mix of G1 cartoon and toy homages. Which is why I prefer Hasbro's CW offerings over Takara's UW as a whole, Hasbro hit that mark for me more so.
Just my 2 cents thou.

I think Dev will be up to Metroplex's light on his chest.
I measured the other combiners at 12". I have Menasor slightly taller then Superion and I assume Defensor will be Superions height.
Defensor looks solid which is a major plus in my book. I think Ill have streetwise as an arm because it will give him more symmetry with blades as the other arm and Rook and First Aid as legs.

They haven't said that. They're saying that Titan class is not an indication of size, but of a pricepoint. It may give a pretty good guess towards size, but ultimately, it's whatever something costs. A deluxe class figure is $30 (here), not a figure of a certain height, width or otherwise. A titan class figure is $200 (here- not sure about the US), not a certain height, etc.

This line is for kids and collectors. Hasbro is actually releasing an awesome line of Combiners. I think we're pretty lucky to even be getting combiners.
3P is the place for you though.

Uh, yeah, Titan CLASS is a class. A legit class. I'm not sure what led you to such a belief, but it's incorrect. There's Titan Class and Titan figures. The Class is Metroplex and Devastator, while the Titan figures are those shampoo bottle plastic looking statues that barely move.
flik68
you are opening a can of worms again.

My question is: why doesn't Hasbro just make G1 cartoon-accurate Combiners? The reason people collect this stuff is because it's the closest to G1 cartoon accurate as you can get at this point, so why not just make one that actually looks like the cartoon? I am waiting to spend my money on that.
shadowfall1976
I have Metroplex, and 18" comes up to the light on his chest, not his hips, and they're not that tall, but yeah, his legs are long.
artiepants
he does have tall hips, he's like 2/3s legs.
