Few hours ago, we broke the news of an upcoming MMO Video Game by Jagex on behalf of Hasbro.
Online game magazine, Kotaku has contacted Jagex to findout more about this game. What they wanted to know was “What continuity this game is based on?” Jagex public relations has answered… “Transformers: Prime”.
This raises a lot of possibilities. It is clear that Hasbro is mainly focusing on “Transformers: Prime” TV Series after the end of Michael Bay Movie Series. (Dark of the Moon hitting theaters this July 1st).
MMO based on Prime continuity might mean the overall environment will expand… it’ll have mythos and a wide variety of characters of its own (World of Warcraft and Matrix: Online are perfect examples).
This looks like good news to all the Transformers: Prime fans. Even the movie fans will have something to look forward to after the ending of the trilogy.

Seriously, have any of you been paying attention at all? All post-movie projects for the foreseeable future are going to be based, at least to some extent, on Prime. It's a little late to be surprised.
I knew this was going to be Prime the moment this was announced, and I didn't even know for sure I was right until now.
God forbid Hasbro put some effort into developing one continuity for once. One that pretty much couldn't be any more G1 without totally sacrificing its freshness.

The involvement of Jagex will destroy this game. They only have one game "Runescape" and they have the worst online customer service rating and poorest customer satisfaction of any online game. They've ruined Runescape due to their poor management and inconsistency with the direction of the game. They are notorious for providing some major new upgrade or feature only to remove it or change it drastically later, after people have begun to enjoy it or use it. One example is in a large area called Wilderness. This was an area that allowed Player verse Player combat (PvP). After many years, they removed PvP. But, 2 years later, they returned it back due to loss of alot of players, but too late, the damage was already done. A change like this changed the whole style and feel of the game, and there were numerous other examples of such changes. Whether people agreed or disagreed with the changes, they were tired of major aspects of the game changing so drastically and so frequently (Make up your mind, Jagex, and go with it!!). Want more proof? Just search Jagex Fraud, or Jagex Complaints and see all the complaints against them, their questionable business practices and very poor customer support. Enough said…

I honestly would not care if the game was in perfect continuity with the show or not. As long as it was true enough to it, and fun to play.

Transformers Prime game…..
I'm so there.

As long as the MMO isn't to the cartoon as the tie-in comics are to the movies.
If Jagex gets it's own copy of the TF Prime story bible and adheres to it, it might work.

This concept does intrigue me but as far as using TFP goes, doesn't that series only have a small hand full of characters? IMO it would be better to use G1, or animated due to the large list of characters that are already created into those universes, i would vote animated over g1 just so they bring back the animated series since animated is such a fan supporting series where we get new characters like Wasp. Plus the animated storyline just seems so much more interesting than TF Prime.

Actualy the Prime continuity is the best possible continuity for this.
Because we know SHIT about it! So any characters and concept can be in it without people wondering "hhmm that cant be canon no sirrr"

I should have mentioned, but I'm NOT happy with it being based on Prime either. As a movie design hater, Prime's designs don't exactly make me all warm and fuzzy with nostalgia and l think games like this need that factor built in. I'm hoping they throw some G1 parts and bots in too. You know, do a "mixed time line" or even "time warp" type thing. Basically they could have zones based around any of the continuities (and honestly that would be really friggin cool to have zones for the different series). That way, a player could choose their favorite time line to play in.

Synergy.

Cool, but I think that for a Transformers MMO game best is Movie universe (Animated is also good)

Wasn't all that interested in this at first, but now that we know it'll be TFP based, I'm definitely looking forward to this.

This.

A transformers MMO?!?!?! If they do this right ill be SO HAPPY!!

Had a look at the companys history with games, sure they made some popular ones, but I'm not crazy about these browser based games, and i don't like the low graphics they have.

Now taking bets that the story will be placed sometime in between WfC and Prime in an attempt to once again unify the two continuities.

Not happy its based on Prime.
I mean the show is OK by itself but I dont think its strong enough to base something like this on.
I'm not a fan of the styling either. Like the Animated designs, they're too manga like and out of proportion.
I think this is a mistake. An update on the WFC styling would have been the best compromise.
Still, I'll see how it turns out but it will need to be amazing now to get me to play something else other than Battlefield 3 and Skyrim.

Prime is far and away my favourite continuity, so this is definitely good news for me.
I do wonder if it's going to be a f2p or p2p format though.
Thenames9
Meh. Not really liking this idea, I'd prefer a range of continuities mixed into one game. At least we know now that Prime is going to span to 2012.
Sso02V
Why wouldn't you want to explore the most thus-far unexplored continuity?
GAUGE
Not that I'm complaining as I'm actually a fan, but why TF PRIME?
Sooooo many other genres of TFs to touch on. Prime barely has any characters.
Oh well, it's probably just to promote the show, so I'm guessing once the show is over after the second to third season, the game will have served it's purpose and become as obsolete as the show.
Still I'll play for the sheer purpose of killing some time I suppose.
